Jet Tec and the environment
The facts
Over 45 million cartridges go into UK landfill sites each year, it is estimated only 15% are recycled or reused! By 2012, 500 million laser toners and 1.8 billion inkjet cartridges will be dumped in landfills worldwide. That’s enough to cover 17 football pitches. Each cartridge thrown into landfill can take up to 1000 years to decompose. In just 12 months, cartridge recycling could save 15 million litres of oil in the UK. |
What are Jet Tec doing?
In 2010 we invested more than £1million in reroofing over 10,000m2 of the factory to achieve a more energy efficient facility. We manufacture to the ISO 14001 standard. We have also achieved the Forestry Stewardship Council accreditation for paper packaging materials. We have reduced our packaging size by approximately 50% in recent years. All plastic is recycled and all card is recyclable, all adding to the reduction of our carbon footprint. |
Millions of ink and toner cartridges are simply thrown away every year, ending up in landfill sites across the world. The plastics and metals they contain can take thousands of years to decompose. Recycling helps prevent this. Re-using material which would normally be thrown away has dramatic effects. It not only protects our environment, but also slows man’s consumption of the earth’s already depleted resources.
More ink. Less waste
Our recycling process ensures that each cartridge we are able to recycle is then filled to the maximum capacity with high quality ink. In many cases we are able to offer extra ink in our recycled cartridges compared to the original. This benefits the consumer and the environment, as the cartridge is not only recycled but contains extra ink, therefore printing for longer.
Recycling inkjet cartridges
Jet Tec’s remanufactured cartridges are produced using cartridges collected through our recycling schemes. The cartridges go through our strict inspection process to verify that they are suitable for remanufacturing. The cartridges are then cleaned with our specially formulated cleaning solution to remove all the residual ink. Once this is complete, the cartridges are refilled, print tested and packaged.
Through our partnership with TRF we are able to re-use many cartridges which may otherwise being landfilled, be sure to check our range of Canon, Hewlett Packard, Dell and Lexmark remanufactured cartridges.
Recyclable packaging
Jet Tec are fully committed to reducing landfill with an overall objective of 0%.
The Jet Tec blister packaging is produced from up to 80% recycled plastic. We have reduced our packaging further by printing information directly onto the compatible cartridges, eliminating the need for a paper label.
The packaging depths are in line with the size of individual cartridges ensuring the minimum amount of packaging is used Learn more…
